CompTIA CTT+™ Certification

Certified instructors are essential for students who want to receive top-notch training, and employers agree that a professional training staff is valuable to the company. Adobe, Dell, Microsoft, Novell and Ricoh recommend that their trainers be CompTIA CTT+ certified. The Training Associates also look for CompTIA CTT+ certification when hiring trainers.
The Comptia CTT+ is a two fold examination. First, the learner needs to clear Computer based exam known as TK-201 which constitute of 95 multiple choice questions based on 5 domains of CTT+ derived from IBSTPI standards of 2003.

The second requirement is, submitting a video recording of 20 minutes of instructor teaching 5 students(minimum) in Physical class environment known as TK-202. The training video submitted must resemble to Original learning setting and no editing is allowed except one stop. Minimum length must be 17-18 min and maximum not exceeding 22 minutes. For successful video, Instructor should infuse all competencies of IBSTPI during 20 minutes demonstration.

Who can take this exam?

While anyone can appear for the exam, it is obviously geared towards those with at least an year of industry experience as a technical trainer and those persons who already have a background in education.
If you fail a CTT examination, you must wait at least 30 days before your first retest and at least 180 days for all subsequent retests.

Passing Score ?

As the exam constitutes of two fold assessment the first computer based exam(CTT+ TK0-201) requires 95 questions to be answered in 90 minutes and thus these time bound test are known to be rigorous with minimum passing score of 655 from total 900 marks which computes to Minimum required 72.8% to pass.

The second video of 20 minutes is assessed upon IBSTPI competencies on scale of 48 points with minimum 36 required to pass the video assessment. It is advised the Trainer should work upon a script and rehearse the demo reel before final presentation for prompt results.

Finally...

The CTT exam is tough but fair, and tests examinees thoroughly on their knowledge of the 14 competencies. The 90 minutes allotted may be enough for most people to complete the exam. Those who have studied the IBSTPI standards and practiced applying them in a classroom should be able to pass the exam without too much difficulty. Upon successful completion of the exam, you have three months to prepare and submit your videotape, which will be discussed in a future edition of Must Know News.
